Grilling Equipment: Be Prepared

Grilling Equipment: Be Prepared
February 13, 2014 Staff Writer

Everybody claims to be a grilling pro but only real pros know what tools they need to make a successful meal.  Grilling and barbecuing tools or accessories are an important key to not losing a battle with your grill.

We certainly don’t want to see you go down in flames – both literally and metaphorically speaking.

You should own a pair of locking tongs – these should be easy-to-squeeze and offer a bounce back.  A good pair of tongs will allow you to securely grip your food without crushing any of it.  Be sure to find a pair that fits your hand and gives you enough reach so that your hands aren’t over the flame.

We can’t stress how important it is to have a grill thermometer on hand. No matter how good you are at grilling and smoking, you can’t tell when food is done by just looking at it.  To prevent overcooking your food or undercooking it, it would be wise to invest in a thermometer. It’ll be worth it in the long run.

If you aren’t rotating your meat on the grill, there’s a chance it might dry out. Every person who grills – yes, this means you too – should have a barbecue basting brush.  You don’t have one? Well, you are in luck because you can buy one of ours from our store.  A basting brush will allow you to evenly apply a wet marinade or sauce as you’re grilling.

Don’t try to cook food on the grill without these tools because you’ll end up looking like someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing.  And who knows? Your friends and family might revoke the right to grill from you
