Move over Oprah… This book club is about exploring some of the best barbecue you have ever tasted. Check out the shelves of our West Broad location to pick up this month’s book Holy Smoke: The Big Book of North Carolina Barbecue.
It’s photo-heavy and dives into the meat that put NC on the map. There’s detailed instructions about cooking your own que at home and plenty of recipes for Southern Sides for inspiration. For those unfamiliar with the Southern staple, there’s even a recipe for sweet tea with a note “if you are new to sweet tea, start with 1 1/2 cups of sugar”
The real meat of Holy Smoke is the history of barbecue culture and celebrating the NC pit-masters that continue making barbecue a culinary staple in America.
