Thousands of customers in Richmond will participate in the 32nd annual Shamrocks program to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association beginning in mid-February and running through March 30.
Numerous local retailers and restaurants will support the fight against muscle disease by participating in the popular St. Patrick’s Day campaign, including Buz & Ned’s Real Barbecue. Stop by one of our two locations and pick up your shamrock today.
The Shamrocks program centers on $1 green, $5 gold or more for platinum paper-mobiles that customers can purchase and sign. The mobiles are displayed on ceilings and walls, helping to decorate stores and create a St. Patrick’s Day atmosphere.
“Our loyal and dedicated partners throughout the Richmond area help make our Shamrocks program a success,” said Fundraising Coordinator, Danette Hodges. “Each Shamrock sold directly helps MDA families in the community, and with the help of our partners’ generous employees and customers, we hope to make this year’s campaign an even bigger success.”
Funds raised through 2014 Shamrock sales will help send area children affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases to MDA summer camp at the 4-H Camp in Wakefield,
The program also helps to support MDA’s worldwide research program and national network of 200 medical clinics, including the MDA Clinic at MCV and Children’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.
